Visit from Cambridge Science Centre

On Tuesday, we enjoyed a visit from the Cambridge Science Centre who came in to deliver their exciting educational workshop on genomes. Years 4-6 were able to ask questions and interact with the workshop which gave an insight into how genetic sequencing occurs and how organisms can have different characteristics due to differences in their genome sequencing. Years 5 and 6 then had the opportunity to become genome explorers and carry out a practical activity to demonstrate the idea of extracting DNA from strawberries. A fun morning was had by all involved and lots of scientific skills were developed.
