Punctuality

We believe good attendance and a prompt start to the day are very important in order to make sure that your child gets the education they deserve. We understand that there can sometimes be barriers and situations that can affect attendance and punctuality – if you need any help or support, please contact a member of the pastoral team. 

Attendance

If your child is not well enough to attend school, a parent must contact the school absence line by 8:30am, giving a specific reason for the absence. Contact details can be found below. If we do not hear from you, we will contact you via text and calls to find out the reason. If a child is off for 3 consecutive days, you will receive a call checking in, and if the child has 5 consecutive days off, a home visit may be conducted as part of our safeguarding procedures. 

Nova Primary Academy strongly discourages any term-time absences. Holidays should be taken during the school holiday period only and not during school time. If you feel you have exceptional circumstances to take your child out of school, a 'Leave of absence form' must be completed and handed to the office. A copy of this can be found below. 

If your child has to attend an appointment during school hours, eg, doctor, dentist or hospital, the school must be informed and must be provided with proof of the medical appointment.

To show how important we think good attendance is, we congratulate our children by holding a half-termly raffle to win rewards within school. The class with the best attendance each week will also win an extra 10 mins of break time or golden time (one class winner per Key Stage).
